Registration & fees

• Registration fee (new students) $60
• Annual registration fee (returning) $40
• Children 6 – 13 (Tues or Thurs) $35 per month
• Students $40 per month
• Adults  $45 per month
 
• Belt test - kids $25
• Belt test - Students\Adults $30

Payment Methods

• Post dated cheques - from September to June are due by the end of September.
• Cash - we require 3 months payment up front then each month thereafter.
• If you decide that Karate is not for you, please provide 1 months notice.

Additional costs are included as follows:

• $8 for mouth guard & case if you don’t already have one (Mouth Guard Mandatory)
• Belt tests $20 kids & $25 adults
• Dogi’s (karate uniform) range in price from $69 to $100 (Mandatory to test) You may be able to find a used Dogi at a thrift store or from previous students.
• Kick-a-thon participation is mandatory with minimum pledge per student $25
• Tournaments have additional participation fees ranging from $15-$25 (Participation, attendance or volunteering is mandatory for 1 tournament per year & a requirement for belt testing.)
• At the end of the year, we ask for a deposit of $25 to reserve your spot for next year. This deposit goes towards your annual registration fee.

Dojo Etiquette

Students show respect by bowing when they enter & leave the Dojo. We ask that students as well as parents & other spectators not wear shoes in the Dojo. Please remove your shoes & leave them on the stage with your other clothing, bags etc. The school has asked that we not clutter the doorways as there are school staff & parents coming & going during our class times.
Parents, grandparents & friends are welcome to stay & watch the class from the stage. Please come & go quietly.

Safety

Mouth guards are mandatory for all non-contact & contact fighting.
There are detailed guidelines which the Black belts follow & direct for all age groups in non-contact & contact fighting.
Parents of students in the kid’s class should be cautious in dropping off & picking up their child as other parents are doing the same & it’s usually dark.

Fund Raising

- Held in October
The Kick-a-thon is the only fund raising activity we have in the year. A portion of the money raised goes to support the organization with the balance going to the club for purchase of equipment & pads. In the past we have purchased enough chest pads, gloves & shin pads to outfit 25 students.

Belt Testing

- held in late November & late May
We belt test twice a year with the kid’s class on Tuesday & Thursday but only one test for the adult class on the Thursday. For the kid’s class, the weeks prior to the belt test we pretest to confirm those testing have sufficient knowledge & skill to succeed. If not, they can always test another time.
